An Introduction to PALS In conjunction with the online content the PALS sessions will cover the following major content areas; • Starting a project – commissions, briefs and fees • Engaging consultants • Building procurement and tendering • Contract administration • Risk Management and Insurance

  5. What PALS will do • Give you an opportunity to meet peers who are studying for registration and

  6. What PALS will do • Give you access to multiple forms of content delivery to assist you in getting through the material

  7. What PALS will do • Give you a framework and order to assist your studies

  8. What PALS will not do • PALS will not give you the answers to the exam

  9. What PALS will not do • PALS is not a replacement for study

  10. What PALS will not do • PALS will not cover everything! • We will try to help to fill in the gaps.

  11. What PALS will not do • PALS is comprised of lectures an a workshop it has not been designed to individually mentor everyone.

  12. What PALS will not do • PALS is intended for adult learning and as such we expect that you will direct your own study.

Recommended Reading • Read the PALS online modules • Listen to the online lectures • Read through Acumen • If you have access to the old practice notes read them all…EVERY ONE • Read the Architect and the Law ($18 from Architext online) • Architext also has some other books you may find helpful • Get a study group to discuss the content • Business and Practice of Architecture vol 1
