  10. 25th SOFE (W. Meier) • IEEE Meeting & Conference Management is handling negotiations for hotel site. • Looking at other venues like the Hyatt at Fisherman’s Wharf. Many hotels do not book small groups more than two years out. Stanford Court or the Omni are good alternatives for SOFE2013. • J.P. Allain offered to arrange for a fusion-related mini-course at SOFE2013 or held in conjunction with the PPPS2013 mini-courses just before SOFE. • Given a venue change, the conference dates might also change. SOFE is usually held in the fall when not combined with ICOPS or PPPS. General Chair: Wayne Meier, LLNL Program Chair: Hutch Neilson, PPPL Date: June 23-27, 2013

SOFE/ TOFE relationship • SOFE/TOFE alternate years (“do not compete” understanding) • Conferences usually in the fall unless combined or embedded with others • SOFE strong in RF heating/magnets/IFE/RH/DAC • TOFE strong in neutronics/thermalhydraulics/PMI • IEEE/ANS share many members • SOFE attendance ~250 & TOFE attendance ~300 • Propose technical co-sponsorship of TOFE 2012 (motion) • Reduced registration for IEEE members • Member recruitment booth? • Publicity for SOFE 2013 • Reciprocity in 2013? • Meet with the FED ExCom tomorrow (11/07/2010)
