Enhancing Collaborative Learning Spaces with REAL: Innovations and Strategies for Student Engagement

On May 16, 2014, Brendan Guenther, Director of IT Services for Teaching and Learning, discussed the progress and strategies of the REAL initiative. Focused on creating rich collaborative environments for student group work, the initiative highlights effective practices from Minnesota and Iowa. With $1M reserved for space reform, this effort aims to transition from traditional computer labs to more engaging, BYOD-friendly spaces. Involving multidisciplinary cooperation, the REAL initiative promotes the use of analytics and supports student affairs while paving the way for future academic collaboration.
