Causes and Impact of the Vendee Rebellion and the Execution of Louis XVI

This session explores the Vendee Rebellion, a significant counter-revolutionary movement in France, and examines its causes within the larger context of the French Revolution. Participants will analyze key events from 1791, including the flight to Varennes and the trial and execution of Louis XVI. Through video resources, discussions, and debates, students will determine the legitimacy of revolutionary actions against the monarchy and weigh the implications of Louis XVI's execution on the course of French history.
