  2. What the Suffolk Resolves were: • One of many resolves that were written saying they didn’t want to be under English rule anymore. • 19 actions that wanted to grant freedom from the intolerable acts to the colonies. • It was the first step toward writing the Declaration of Independence.

  3. Who? • The colony of Massachusetts formed the Suffolk Resolves. • The men of Suffolk county came up with the idea. • First met at Woodward Tavern • Joeseph Warren • Wrote first draft

  4. When and Where? • The Suffolk resolves were put into effect on September 17,1774 • Suffolk County, Massachusetts

  5. The Purpose of the Suffolk Resolves • Protest against the intolerable acts • Which urged colonies to form militias to resist enforcement of the acts • Support Colonial Government in Massachusetts so they didn’t have to obey the English Rule until the Intolerable acts were diminished. • Make the first step toward freedom

  6. What the Objective of the Suffolk Resolves were: • Suspend trade with England • Boycott English Imports • Block exports to England • Claim their freedom

  7. Impact on the Colonies/Relations With Great Britian • Impacted the Colonies because: • One of the first steps toward independence • First written document that the colonists developed claiming their independence toward England. • First step toward breaking their ties with Great Britian.
