  3. Family • Gus has two brothers and one sister • Gus’s parents names are Denni and Cecile • He has two sons the oldest is Mark and the youngest is Scoot • His wife is Betty Moore Grissom

  4. Why is Gus Famous • Gus was the first person to go into space twice • Unfortunately he manly remembered not just as his accomplishments as a astronaut but also because of his tragic death

  5. Awards and Accomplishments • When Gus died it led to many changes • Gus was honored because he was the first person to go into space twice • As a astronaut he did many successful missions

  6. How he Died • Gus almost died when a capsule sunk in the water he manly saved himself • Gus died with two other men named Ed White and Roger Charfee • They died when they went into a capsule the cords cot on fire and let off a toxic gas • Gus died when he was 40 on July6, 1945
