Why Aruba as an economic gateway between Latin America and Europe? • Aruba has strong ties with The Netherlands for over 200 years; • Aruba can make use of strong network of Dutch embassies in LATAM and EU; • Aruba has historical relationships with Latin American countries; • Aruba is strategically positioned between Latin America and Europe; • Aruba has the ability to understand and translate the culture from Latin America and The Netherlands; • The combination of Aruba and NL brings a unique proposition; • This unique proposition is beneficial for both Aruba and The Netherlands and brings sustainable competitive advantage.

Sector analysis LATAMMajor developments and sectors • Infrastructure • Brazil: Some 12,000 projects with a total value of nearly US$ 740 billion are expected to be implemented until 2016. • Brazil will build over 800 airports. • Colombia: Restoration of the river (Rio Magdalena -USD 9 billion project) and rail transportation and design a system of airports and ports in line with the growth of international trade. • Panama: The Colón Free Zone receives over 250,000 visitors a year and it is home to 1,751 companies. Further expansion planned. • Oil & Gas • Brazil plans to inject USD 250 billion until December 2014 in the oil & gas sector. • Colombia plans large investments in Oil & Gas: till 2015 USD 16 billion in exploration and production, USD 12 billion in transportation and USD 617 million in refining. • Agribusiness • Brazil / Colombia: Encouraging sustainable development of agriculture. • Tourism • Panama: 10.000 hotel rooms have been built over the last 3 years.
