  3. CICLO Conference 12th of June 2013 UNESCO’s 2nd International Conference on Arts Education in Seoul, S. Korea in 2010. • GOAL 1: Ensure that arts education is accessible as a fundamental and sustainable component of a high quality renewal of education • GOAL 2: Assure that arts education activities and programs are of a high quality in conception and delivery • GOAL 3: Apply arts education principles and practices to contribute to resolving the social and cultural challenges facing today’s world

  5. CICLO Conference 12th of June 2013 The Danish Translation of the Seoul Agenda ImprovingAccess • Widen students, teachers and schools access to arts education. • Organize a group of stakeholders representing both schools and organizations experienced in performing together with the schools

CICLO Conference 12th of June 2013 The Danish Translation of the Seoul Agenda • We wanted to cooperate with schools and organizations in other countries and take the global perspective. • We took advantage in the coincidence with the UN high-level World conference Rio +20 with focus on sustainability • We took contact to schools and organizations in Rio/Brazil • We adopted the Brazilian/Portuguese word: CICLO to describe circular patterns in music and circular idea of sustainability.

  9. CICLO Conference 12th of June 2013 The CICLO project May 2012 Activities and Performances in • 4 Danish cities and 7 schools • 9 schools in Rio de Janeiro

  10. CICLO Conference 12th of June 2013 The overall aim wee addressed • Arts education shall address social and cultural challenges • Creative use of sound and music • Information technology across the Atlantic about sustainability

  11. CICLO Conference 12th of June 2013 The second Seoul recommendation: Improving quality: • Invited the teachers together with professional musicians and the professional joined and inspired the children

  12. CICLO Conference 12th of June 2013 The second Seoul recommendation: Improving quality: • Web site • platform for communication between the schools and between Denmark and Brazil • platform for materials for inspiration to the teachers (manuals, texts, downloads of videos, music etc.)

CICLO Conference 12th of June 2013 Welcome speech from the Danish Minister of Education, Ms. Christine Antorini • Support and interest to the project and wished the very best for the children • Highlighted the combination of musicality, creativity and the commitment for the solving the environmental problems of the world • And the importance of the transcontinental perspective of the project.

CICLO Conference 12th of June 2013 • The combination of Arts, physical activities, traditional skills • The cooperation between the professionals in the schools (the teachers) and the professionals outside (musicians, artist etc.) • The cooperation between schools and the cultural organizations and institutions • The international perspective – a challenge and an inspiration.

  16. CICLO Conference 12th of June 2013 • New paths, new possibilities – and a little step further to fulfill the ambitions in the Seoul Agenda. • Close connection and coincidence between the Seoul Agenda and the actual debate on the Danish schools • We have been inspired to move on next year
