Company Management Rep Identify company management rep • Selection of this representative is first step, creating a contact person, a liaison, between PCI and the Certified Organization. • Qualifications • This person should have management duties within the organization. • This person, for the purpose of certification, should be or report directly to a director in the organization. • This person will be responsible for implementing all Certification programs such as; internal audits, reports , CAR’s, TAP’s etc…

Company Select Standards Select standards • Once a person is selected he/she should review the organizations capabilities and make an initial determination on which Certifications they would like to pursue. • PCI 3000/4000 A – Aluminum • PCI 3000/4000 S – Steel • PCI 3000/4000 F – Functional Applications • PCI 3000/4000 H – Heat Sensitive Substrates

Train Representative Train company representative • The management representative will then prepare for training by reviewing the PCI Certification Purpose and Objectives Manual. • PCI will host a training session for the representative to ultimately become certified as the management representative.

  7. Internal Audit Internal audit • The Management Representative is now ready to perform the companies Internal Audit. • In this audit the Management Representative will determine the following: • Selection of Standards to Pursue • Identify areas of weakness • Determine when and if the company is ready for a Certification Audit

PCI Certification Audit PCI Certification Audit • PCI will send a Technical Staff person to perform Certification Audit. • Discovery (Management) Meeting • Plant Tour • Individual Meetings (Key Personnel) • Process Evaluation • Document Evaluations • Sample Collections • Debrief (Management) Meeting • Return Results within 10 business days.

  9. 12 Elements to Gain Certification • Pretreatment • Ovens and Curing • Application Area • Quality Control • Training • Maintenance • Customer Satisfaction • Safety • Process Control • Quoting and Warranty Policies • Incoming Quality Control • Loading, Unloading and Packaging

  10. Did They Pass? Did they pass? • If Yes, • Company will obtain Certification if they met the minimum standards with a passing score in total as well as on every individual category. • Corrective Actions will be reviewed. • Management Representative will be responsible for submitting CAR plan back to PCI for approval on every Corrective Action.

  11. Did They Pass? Targeted action plan • If No, • If company does not meet the minimum score in any one individual category or the overall score they will not qualify for certification and must develop a Targeted Action Plan. • The management representative must submit a TAP back to PCI for approval. • All TAP’s must be successfully completed within six (6) months to obtain certification.

  12. PCI TAP Review PCI Review • Once the Targeted Action Plan is completed and reviewed with PCI, via conf call usually, the organization will become certified. • At this point the CAR process will be engaged.

  13. PCI Certified PCI Certified • You are CERTIFIED! • Your organization will be listed on PCI website as certified. • Your organization will be listed in PCI’s Powder Coated Tough publication. • You will be allowed to use PCI Certified Logo’s in conjunction with your advertisements. • Business Cards, Letterheads, promotional campaigns, etc…

  14. Internal Audits Internal Audit • Quarterly internal audits must be performed by the Management Representative and reports sent to PCI to maintain certification. • These audits will include continuous improvement towards CAR’s. • PCI technical support is available for conference call or field assistance. • PCI offers laboratory testing support as well.

  15. Annual Surveillance Audits Pass annual surveillance audit? • PCI will visit your facility on at least an annual bases to perform a Surveillance Audit. This will be necessary to maintain your Certification Status. • During these audits the same agenda will be followed as the initial Certification Audit . • New Standards can be added or removed during these surveillance audits.
