History of Natural Family Planning • BBT: first correlated with menstrual cycle 1868, • first used in NFP 1935, • first published 1939 • Calendar Rhythm: 1929 with first recognition of relationship of ovulation to end of cycle. (Oginos and Knaus) (natural contraceptive) • Sympto-Thermal work began 1951 (Roetzer) • Ovulation method: • Billings began 1953 (natural family planning) • Odeblad started research 1959 • Hilgers began standardization 1977 • Creighton Model (CrM) developed 1980 • NaPro Technology first described 1991 (health maintenance)
