  1. Tips and tricks for using marble in the bathroom Why we love marble The bathroom is one of the most hard-working rooms in the home, not to mention a big selling point, so it pays to give its design some decent attention marble Bathroom design isn’t just about selecting a shower and/or bath, basin and toilet – there are the tiles, lighting, mirrors and storage options to consider, too. Here, we have pulled together everything you need to know about marble to get you excited about your next bathroom project – including bringing non- traditional pieces of furniture and accessories into the space – to take it from functional to fantastic. Design tips for using marble in the bathroom Marble suits a range of interior styles, from classic to ultra-modern. This scheme takes a contemporary approach, using marble as the base and playing it up with on-trend black tapware and accessories. Large (600mm x 600mm) marble tiles on floors and walls could be complemented by a stunning black freestanding bath. A simple glass shower featuring black tapware, plus a floating white vanity teamed with a striking mirror and black and marble accessories would complete the design. But if you can’t stretch to a full-on marble bathroom, or prefer a more subtle look, then consider teaming large-format white tiles on the walls with small- format marble tiles – like these subway ones – on the floor. There are lots of small Carrara marble tiles on the market in an array of shapes, from hexagonal to round. To tie in the marble floor tiles, simply add a marble soap dispenser and a marble tray for beauty products on the vanity. Don’t forget that a framed artwork can look fantastic in the bathroom, bringing the whole space together and providing a powerful focal point. While black or white towels and accessories would be the obvious choice for this scheme, a dash of pale pink would also work.
