  1. September 14, 2018 DEEP LEARNING TOP 5 Insights into the new computing model

  2. DEEP LEARNING IS THE FASTEST-GROWING FIELD IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

  3. AS AI TECHNOLOGIES CONTINUE TO IMPROVE, MORE COMPANIES ADOPT DEEP LEARNING TO ACCELERATE THEIR BUSINESSES…

  4. TOP 5 DEEP LEARNING STORIES 1. NVIDIA's Clara smartens up medical instruments 2. Fujifilm and NVIDIA bring radiology AI to Japan 3. Cisco boosts its deep learning capabilities 4. "I am AI" docuseries episode 8: Taking AI to new heights 5. How a Stanford PhD student is using deep learning to create “dank memes”

  5. 1 NVIDIA’S CLARA SMARTENS UP MEDICAL INSTRUMENTS Processing the massive sea of data is the greatest challenge of today’s medical instruments. Unveiled at GTC Japan, NVIDIA Clara AGX, a single GPU-based computing architecture at the heart of the NVIDIA Clara Platform, will dramatically boost capabilities of legacy medical devices, enabling scaling from entry-level tools to the most demanding 3D instruments. “NVIDIA Clara is intended as a platform that can take the massive amounts of data generated by medical instruments, such as ultrasound and X-ray machines, visualizing it, and potentially recommending actions.” READ ARTICLE Source: https://www.itwire.com/hardware-and-storage/84480-nvidia-s-clara-smartens-up-medical-instruments.html

  6. 2 FUJIFILM AND NVIDIA BRING RADIOLOGY AI TO JAPAN Fujifilm, the first company in Japan to adopt the NVIDIA DGX-2 AI supercomputer, aims to accelerate AI research to improve the accuracy and delivery of healthcare and medical imaging systems. “Combining Fujifilm’s expertise in medical imaging systems with NVIDIA’s AI leadership will supercharge the development and deployment of breakthrough applications for intelligent medical imaging systems.” LEARN MORE Source: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2018/09/12/fujifilm-adopts-nvidia-dgx-2/

  7. 3 CISCO BOOSTS ITS DEEP LEARNING CAPABILITIES Cisco has partnered with NVIDIA to expand the UCS portfolio by adding a new accelerated computing platform, making it easy for customers to consume AI and have faster insights. “The new UCS server’s multi-cloud support allows data scientists to build and experiment with their models in the cloud, but train them in the on-prem data center, to meet data privacy and regulatory needs, without the need to re-architect an AI-ML project.” READ MORE Source: https://www.enterprisetech.com/2018/09/12/cisco-servers-oracle-cloud-boost-ai-offerings/

  8. 4 "I AM AI" DOCUSERIES EPISODE 8: TAKING AI TO NEW HEIGHTS The latest episode of our “I am AI” docuseries features AI startup Skydio. Its drones use AI to interpret the world in real-time, letting it safely avoid obstacles as it films you. “Our vision for drones is that they should be sleek, super intelligent, beautiful flying assistants that we're comfortable using every day for all kinds of interesting stuff.” WATCH HERE Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5p7SGo5f1so

  9. 5 HOW A STANFORD PHD STUDENT IS USING DEEP LEARNING TO CREATE “DANK MEMES” Lawrence Pierson, PhD student in theoretical astrophysics at Stanford University, joins the AI Podcast to discuss how he and a classmate built a neural network to generate memes. “ In a qualitative survey, Peirson and his co-author presented people with a human-generated and a deep learning-generated meme, side by side. They asked two questions: whether the subject thought the meme was created by a human or computer, and how the subject would rate the meme’s humor. The data shows the deep learning memes ‘were fairly indistinguishable from the real memes,’ Peirson says.” LISTEN HERE Source: https://soundcloud.com/theaipodcast/ai-podcast-dank-memes-lawrence-pierson
