Spirituality is a way of life. Because we are all spiritual beings by nature, everything we do is spiritual. Spirituality, on the other hand, is a way of life that we cultivate while we are immersed in the physical world. For some, spirituality is getting back to nature and being one with all things, while for others, spirituality means chanting mantras and meditating for several hours a day and being spiritually connected to others. Spirituality, like being Christian, Buddhist, atheist, or any other religion, is a lifestyle choice. It is a style of life that contains symbols and rituals that signify a spiritual way of life as we understand it. I saw myself levitating a foot above the earth as I walked down the street when I first started channeling and writing about spirituality and attempting to find my own spiritual consciousness. I assumed I'd be able to see things that others couldn't, and I'd have incredible intuition and knowledge. People would come to me seeking guidance and clarification on their goals. Some people do this, but it is nothing more than what everyone else does on a daily basis. We're all trying to be spiritual; we're all trying to be someone. Simplicity appears to be linked to spirituality. Many spiritually conscious people prefer to live simpler lives, but this does not imply that they are more spiritual than someone who lives a more sophisticated or hectic existence. Spirituality is a way of life that we create for ourselves. We choose to experience it as a philosophy or a direction/path. It's just another box we find ourselves in on a daily basis. Because spirit makes up one-third of our total being, we can't even choose to be spiritual; it's who we are. As a result, living our lives striving to be someone we aren't can only be a lifestyle choice. In the process of practicing spirituality, we are attempting to become more "spiritually conscious." We're attempting to connect with spirit and its mission, as well as to be in tune with it. Knowing our destiny and aligning ourselves with it gives us more power and determination to fulfill it in this lifetime.
To imply that someone is truly spiritual suggests that they are spiritually superior to others. That is not the case. It simply means that one is more "spiritually aware" or linked to spirit. It is something to which we must all awaken. We are first and foremost spirits having a corporeal experience. But we didn't come here for a spiritual experience; we came for a physical one. Nobody has any idea what spirit is. Being spiritual and being spirit are not the same thing. The difference between the two is that one is an object and the other is an experience. Being a thing cannot be defined or experienced until you are that thing. Many people assume that spirituality gives us the ability to use our psychic abilities, however this is also not true. There are many persons who have psychic ability but do not lead a spiritual life. Because psychic skills may be seen, heard, smelled, felt, or tasted, they are once again physical traits. They are physical extensions of what we already do, and everyone can develop and experience them. Psychic powers do not make us any more spiritual than we are now. Being spiritual means being who you are right now; it means being natural. It's more accurate to say that I am spirit, and that I am Roy. And it's natural for Roy to say things like "I'm" this or "I'm" that. We believe there is a separation between spirit and Roy, but it is truly the spirit saying "I am" Roy. The spirit serves as a link between the mind and the body; it is the energy that keeps the body alive. Spirituality is the tangible manifestation of our ideas about what spirit is and does. Nothing, whether religion, faith, or spirituality, can transport us to spirit. Being there and knowing it as absolute is the only way to get there. You are not there when practicing, training, or living the lifestyle; you are experiencing the process of getting there.
It is arrogant and pretentious for a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Mormon, Buddhist, or spiritually enlightened person to claim they have discovered the way. You are not there if you are on the path. We, as a species, take ourselves far too seriously. Being who you currently are rather than trying to be who you want to be is the essence of spiritual simplicity. I am naturally being spiritual while writing this piece; I am spirit being a writer. I've chosen to live the spiritual lifestyle that I've established because it allows me to see things from a new viewpoint. But I'm no more spiritual than the rest of the world. It's just a way for me to convey how I feel and think about my physical life and the situations I've created. Writers, philosophers, and artists just express themselves in front of an audience. Their spiritual inspiration stems from an open connection with spirit and mind, which is quite similar to what you do every day as part of your chosen lifestyle. Even if you don't physically show it as spirituality, your inspiration comes from the same place. Spirituality, rather than religion, mysticism, fear, or anything else, is used to filter these people's thinking. Living a spiritual existence has not exempted me from human emotion or physical limitations. I live in a physical universe and am therefore subject to all physical phenomena. My spiritual awareness allows me to perceive the larger picture and engage with the surroundings in a unique way. Any lifestyle can be claimed to be the same. But none of the choices I've made in this life can or will prepare me for life after death as a spirit being. They are two distinct worlds of existence that can only be experienced while one is in one of them. Every day, we are presented with numerous options; the one we choose will decide a unique experience that cannot be duplicated in any other time or place. The majority of the time, we make these decisions based on our preferred lifestyle. Lifestyles are small boxes in which we dwell that go nowhere. You must choose another box and continue choosing to fully evolve to the next phase. The entire essence of life is movement, and it is never-ending. What you pick tomorrow does not undermine what you chose in the past; they are merely markers that you have progressed. Every decision you make is a step forward in your development. Your old ideas about yourself and what you are like museum exhibits. You look at them and think about how far you've come. You'll be able to see where you've been and where you'll be going. You go to a museum to wonder at the past, not to criticize it. Spirituality is a way of life, not a goal in and of itself. For you and others, who you are now and how you have chosen to express it is a signpost or landmark. You are, however, not here to learn anything; rather, you are here to enjoy everything it has to offer. Despite your best attempts, you will move on when you have matured sufficiently in your belief. But don't look back on it as a blunder or a life squandered. Try to keep in mind that it has brought you to this point and that you are now ready to try something new.
