  2. What Did These Artist Face During Their Photography Careers? Matthew Brady The major historical event that Matthew Brady faced during his career as a photographer was the American Civil War. This was the war in the United States between the North and the South. 1861-1865. Brady witnessed brutal things and showed them through his photos. Richard Avedon Richard Avedon was inspired by his parents clothing business, as a boy he took great interest in fashion, especially enjoying photographing the clothes in his father’s store. He shot photos for Harpers, Bazaar, and Vogue Magazine.

  3. Their GOALS/VISION for Making Pictures Matthew Brady Richard Avedon He wanted to kindle his interest in fashion photography. • His photos were based on his internal instincts. Outside problems that he faced when he was alive influenced his photo taking and qualities. He focused on important events and people in most of his photos.

  4. What technology did each artist use? Matthew Brady Richard Avedon The camera he used was called a Kodak .Box Brownie Camera • The camera he used was called the daguerreotype camera. It was invented by Louis Daguerre. Daguerreotype was developed for a more convenient and effective method of photography.
