  1. HOCKEY LACROSSE

  2. PURPOSE • INVADE your opponents territory and shoot the ball into their net, while protecting your own territory / net. Hockey Lacrosse

  3. VARIATIONS Although there are many variations, the rules, skills are all similar. The surfaces and equipment is the biggest thing that changes (so they can be played all-year round).

  4. RULES & GAMEPLAY

  5. FOCUS FOR THIS UNIT IMPLEMENTS: Is just a fancy way of saying “hockey stick” or “lacrosse stick” • The strategies & tactics we covered in Unit 1 are still important! • Do the use of an implements make games easier or harder?

  6. SKILLS • Passing, Catching & Shooting – it is always important in any game, but will be much different when using a ‘stick’ • Aim & Accuracy – Aim at your target, the more accurate you are, the better!

  7. SAFETY • Both Hockey & Lacrosse are physical, often violent contact sports, but this is PE class so there is no contact • Hockey – the stick must remain below your waist (no ‘slap shots’) • Lacrosse – during gameplay to start you will only be allowed to intercept the ball, not hit your opponents stick.
