Nasser Hussain Says England Can Do Nothing to ‘Bully’ India Former England captain Nasser Hussain said that Joe Root and his team can do nothing to ‘bully’ Virat Kohli’s Team India going ahead in the five-match Test series. The visitors have already registered a memorable Test win at Lord’s which saw several verbal spats in both sides. However, Nasser Hussain’s comments came in the wake of England coach Chris Silverwood’s comments where he mentioned England will try to hit back hard at India in the upcoming three Tests as well. But, Hussain feels it’s highly unlikely that England will be able to do anything by bullying the Virat Kohli’s team. “Nothing England can do will bully them now even if Chris Silverwood has said he will fight Indian fire with fire for the rest of this series,” Hussain wrote in his column for Daily Mail. “This India is not a side who will be bullied, as perhaps previous generations have been. They wouldn’t allow themselves to be bullied by Aussie players or crowds —when Tim Paine said, “Wait until we get you to the Gabba”, it just spurred them on.”
“That comment from Paine was aimed at a player who hasn’t featured against England, Ravi Ashwin, but he is another who will be as feisty as they come if he plays in the third Test at Headingley on Wednesday. All their players have great self-belief,” Hussain shared while giving the example of India’s stunning series win against Australia by beating all odds. However, Team India was under the pressure coming into the final day of the second Test at Lord’s. England welcomed Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami with plenty of bouncers but couldn’t dismiss them and, as a result, they ended up conceding too many runs. With runs on the board, Indian pacers did exceptionally well and dismissed England for 120 in 51.5 overs to win the Test by a huge margin of 151 runs. The third Test is slated to begin from August 25 in Leeds.
