CSK batting coach Michael Hussey hopeful of a great season ahead Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a poor season last year in the Indian Premier League (IPL) which took place in the UAE where the three-time IPL title winners finished seventh in the points table and failed to qualify for the playoffs for the very first time in the history of the league. But this time their batting coach Michael Hussey is quite hopeful of a good season and he said that the franchise has got all its bases covered, He further added that they are looking to start afresh after a forgettable last edition. “I feel we have a very balanced squad that has most bases covered and with depth in most areas. The guys are in really good spirits and have been preparing extremely well,” he was quoted as saying on the CSK website. He again added that CSK had a very balanced squad, praising the new recruits Moeen Ali, K Gowtham and Robin Uthappa as well. CSK bought six players including Moeen Ali and K Gowtham at the mini- auction in February in Chennai as well. Apart from them, they acquired the service of the top-order batsman Robin Uthappa in a trade with Rajasthan Royals.

  2. “I think they are all excellent additions. Moeen is an excellent all-rounder, Robin has a lot of experience and has been a quality performer in the past and Gowtham has some genuine talent that we can look to develop further,” Hussey said. However, Hussey said a good start in the league would be nice as it will help the players relax and play their best game with confidence. Otherwise, there will be a pressure that can affect their game and the former Australia batsman believed playing a block of matches would help them settle and build confidence early in the campaign. “The conditions at Wankhede are generally very good for both batsmen and bowlers, so hopefully we can start well and players can feel good about their games,” he said. The Super Kings will play their first five matches of IPL-14 in Mumbai beginning with a game against Delhi Capitals on April 10 as well.
