The Beginning • Established in 1988 as Patchway and Bradley Stoke Community Development Project • Joint initiative between the first residents of Bradley Stoke and the established Town Council in Patchway • A grant through the Rural Community Council for one full time community development worker • Tiny office in the store room of Patchway Library Making a difference in the community since 1988 Mak Making a difference since 1988 Registered Charity No. 1086485

  4. The Journey • New member of staff • Worked with the Trustees to identify priorities • Recognised opportunities for service delivery to meet the growing unmet needs in the community • At the peak turnover of £850,000 and around 40 staff • Last year £650k and 25 staff

  5. Funding Streams • Big Lottery • Town Council • Commissions to deliver services • Housing Associations • NHS South Gloucestershire • Police Commissioner • Charitable trusts and foundations

In 2013 we updated our values • We all have the right to a future that enables us to reach our potential • Everyone has the right to be fully involved in society and in decisions that affect them • With rights come responsibilities • Discrimination always needs to be challenged • Different people and cultures are able to appreciate each other and live together harmoniously • We all need to be involved in protecting our environment for future generations • We all learn and develop through our life experiences • Through working and learning together we can make the best use of limited resources

  7. Continuous reflection and improvement • PQASSO Level 1 June 2012 • Reviewed organisational structure with a Director and Leadership Team • Clarified Theory of Change • Putting in place social auditing • New trustees October 2013 • CIO from April 2014

  8. Implications for the organisation • Now running a small business and trustees have the skills for this • Diversified income streams and income generation • Increased accountability to funders and service users • Development of service user forum • Increased value in partnerships
