Evaluation of Vehicle Speed Control System Using JNCAP Test Procedure

This document discusses concerns related to speed control testing procedures for vehicles, outlining sources of speed variation and criteria for setting testing parameters. It proposes using the JNCAP test method to evaluate the effectiveness of speed suppression functions, citing the existing use of this method in vehicles like the R152 AEBS. The document aims to address uncertainties in current testing practices and improve test validity.

  1. ACPE-04-XX ACPE-04 Test procedure concern Based on ACPE-04-04

  2. ACPE-04-XX Proposed test procedure draft (Based on ACPE-04-04) Creeping run 1~5sec 1~1.5m Standstill Target V2 V1 : Speed just before pedal input V2 : Speed without ACPE control at L2 distance V3 : Speed with ACPE control at L2 distance Vehicle speed V1 V3 Accel pedal input L2 L1 L0

  3. ACPE-04-XX  Concern 1. Speed related issue (There are many sources of variation) There are many sources of variation) • V1 : The speed of V1 fluctuates due to various influences. And also differ each vehicle. V1 : The speed of V1 fluctuates due to various influences. And also differ each vehicle. Ex. Creeping time, Creeping characteristics, Temperature, road surface, Tire temperature, Ex. Creeping time, Creeping characteristics, Temperature, road surface, Tire temperature, Engine warm state, Air Engine warm state, Air- -conditioner ON/OFF, conditioner ON/OFF, etc • V2 : Affected by V1 • V3 : Affected by V1 and Accel Pedal input timing etc 2. Criteria How to set criteria ? • Collision speed V3 ? : Affected V1 speed • Speed reduction rate ? Speed reduction rate needs to be “redefined” Speed reduction rate needs to be “redefined” Need to measure V1, V2, V3 speed 1st: Measure V1, V2 (without ACPE control) 2nd: Measure V1, V3 (with ACPE control) and compare “V1” 1stvalue to verify test validity => Difficult to achieve test validity due to No1 issue. No one has ever performed these test methods. The validity of the test is uncertain

  4. ACPE-04-XX Proposal To use JNCAP test procedure Justification • To evaluate suppress function, JNCAP test method already exists, and is currently in use in vehicles. There is an actual results. R152 AEBS : refer Euro NCAP test method
