Increasing poverty… 42% of Green Bay families with children under age five are living in poverty. This number has tripled in the last decade. More food insecurity… Nearly 60% of children in Green Bay public schools are receiving free or reduced-price lunches. This number has doubled over the last 10 years. Many who have never used services before now need help… In 2010, 37% of callers to 2-1-1 were using the service for the first time. Our community’s health depends on partners like you. This individual or team leads their United Way campaign with a high level of organization, motivation and creativity and is actively involved with their United Way campaign.   4. What United Way is doing about it… Maintaining the safety net Brown County United Way funds more than 40 critical programs that help form our local health and human services safety net. Some are virtually unknown and others are nationally recognized, but every one has proven itself as vital in keeping our Brown County population safe and healthy. Tracking needs in real-time: 2-1-1 There are more than 1,700 services in Brown County, and until United Way created 2-1-1, there was no one-stop-shop to find them all. Not only does the database provide efficient access to services, it also tracks our community needs in real-time. • Getting at root causes: • The Community Partnership for Children (CPC) • To create lasting change, you have to get at the root of issues. United Way built the CPC to do just that. • The CPC interviews all new parents right after their babies are born, making sure these newborns have every opportunity for success. • In 2010, the CPC helped more than 1,000 families. Of those enrolled in intensive CPC programming: • 99% were linked to services that helped avoid crisis situations and/or met basic needs. • 95% of children received regular exams and were on schedule with immunizations. 100% of their nutritional needs were addressed. 100% of their families were linked to a primary care provider. • 83% of children were on track to be ready for school.
