  2. Research Development Purpose Research Development is the Newest Initiative in the Office of Research and Health Sciences. It was Created to Accelerate the Development of Collaborative Teams of USC Faculty, and to Assist Them in Developing Multimillion Dollar Competitive Proposals.

  5. Cultivate a Funding Strategy • Assess Areas of Interest and Existing Expertise • Coordinate Preliminary Meeting • Locate Funding Opportunities • Establish Principal Investigator (PI) • Identify Internal and External Collaborators

  6. Proposal Development Process • Review Guidelines • Create Checklist • Assemble Working Groups • Develop a Timeline • Assign Individual Tasks

Budget • Acknowledge Sponsor Budget Requirements • Collaborate with PI to Establish Budget Projections • Assemble Draft Budget • Meet with Working Group Leaders to Develop Budget • Enter Budget Requests into Linked Spreadsheet • Meet with PI to Assess Total Budget Requests • Revise Budget • Evaluate for Mathematical Errors and Sponsor Budget Requirements • Transfer Final Budget to Sponsor Forms
