Characteristics of the metropolitan area (PID area of interest) • Prague- area 496 km2 • population 1.2 mil. • distance of the city boundary from the centre is 10 km to the north, 18 km to the east, • 14 km to the west and 15 km to the south • Prague transport region – in addition to Prague this region includes a part of the Central Bohemian Region surrounding the city, particularly the entire area of districts Prague-East and Prague-West and parts of adjacent districts • - the boundary is defined by an area reaching 30-40 km from the centre • - population outside Prague - approx. 0.5 mil. Basic principles, targets and objectives of Prague integrated transport: • Uniform regional transport systembased on a preference of backbone rail transport (railway, metro and trams), bus transport is organized particularly as a follow-up transport to terminals established next to rail transport stops and stations, including also P+R facilities • Uniform transfer tariff systemenabling to travel with all necessary changes using one ticket only 1 Tariff, 1 Ticket, 1 Timetable, 1 Network EMTA Conference Prague 24th – 25th May 2012

Prague backbone network • metro > backbone railway system for extra-large passenger corridors • suburban railway > more trains, more stops in Prague, higher attractivity for Prague citizens (faster connection from suburbs than by bus) • trams > network optimization: less lines, shorter intervals > combination of backbone tram lines with double-lines with common main part of route • buses > network optimization: less lines, shorter intervals, new tangential connections • backbone bus lines (metrobuses) • complementary bus lines • low capacity minibuses for operation within city quarters • ferries and funicular > complement of basic transport network • simplicity • attractivity • efficiency EMTA Conference Prague 24th – 25th May 2012

  9. Tariff, fare and ticketing • Tariff is defined in terms of time, zones and the opportunity to change. PID has circular zones. - The area of the City of Prague consists of 4 tariff zones • - External zones are numbered from 1 to 5. • Basic types of tickets: • single transfer tickets for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 zones (paper),valid for 15, 30, 60, 90,120, 150, 180, 210, 240 minutes • short-term season tickets for 24 hours or 3 days (paper) • long-term season tickets for 1, 3, 5, 12 months (smart card) • Passengerswith single tickets validate their tickets in validating machines located on vehicles (3-5 machines depending on the type of the vehicle), at entrances to metro or on railway stations platforms. • Validating machines print the following data on the ticket: time, date, tariff zone and place of validation (metro, railway). Key tasks of ROPID • transport solution of PID system • discussion of traffic solutions and their funding with subsidy providers and transport operators • negotiation of contracts on provision of PID operation and supervision of their performance • organization of financial flows of revenues and subsidies within PID system • draft of tariff and fare within PID system, ticketing • ensuring of a uniform PID information system EMTA Conference Prague 24th – 25th May 2012

Transport solution of PID system • Coordination of operation of individual transport systems between each other as well as of their internal operation (coordination of timetables, elimination of duplicities, quality improvement of interchange links) with a priority given to rail transport and a supplementary role of bus transport • Specification and control of quality standardsof transport services in the area • - utilization of vehicle capacity • - seated/standing passengers ratio on vehicles (1:2 metro and trams, 1:1 buses) • - max. acceptable intervals between links (10 mins metro and trams, 30 mins buses) • - max. walk distance from stop (400/800 m) • - quality standards by operators (reliability, punctuality, drivers´ behavior, cleanness, passenger information, safety…) EMTA Conference Prague 24th – 25th May 2012

PID system organization The system has been established as a municipal transport association with ROPID placing orders with transport operators for transport services on behalf of subsidy providers. - City of Prague - suburban municipalities - regional authority Customers Services are ordered from operators based on contracts prepared by ROPID ROPID Transport operators (17) EMTA Conference Prague 24th – 25th May 2012

Discussion of traffic solutions and theirfunding with subsidy providers andtransport operators • Partners are the following: • City of Prague - Municipal Council • - Deputy Mayor in charge of transport • Principal plans for the next year are subject to discussion in connection with city budget preparations • Districts of the City of Prague - 57 • Municipalities in the vicinity of Prague - 299 • Regional transport authority in the vicinity of Prague • Subsidies - regional • - from municipalities (Prague = region) • Traffic solutions are discussed with transport operators interms of technical feasibility.   16. Contracts on ensuring of PID system 1. Tariff Agreement The subject of the Agreement is particularly the acceptance of a uniform tariff and PID tickets by all transport operators, authorization of Prague Public Transport Co. Inc. (DPP) to print and distribute tickets and to distribute income from revenues to transport operators. The key for the distribution of income from revenues is determined by ROPID. 2. Contract on provision of services for PID system Thesubject of the Contract are services provided by PraguePublicTransport Co. Inc. (DPP) to other operators, particularly, allowing vehicles of other transport operators to access termini and stops of Prague Public Transport Co. Inc. (DPP) and use of other facilities owned by Prague Public Transport Co. Inc. (DPP) 3. Contract for provision of uniform ticket inspectionon public transport routes operated within PID system Subject of the contract is the authorization of Prague Public Transport Co. Inc.
