  1. Enterprise Vocabulary Management TopQuadrantTopBraid Suite 3.0 Solution Overview

  2. TopBraid Suite Application Infrastructure

  3. Solution Overview • Specialized ontologies to support governance • Application templates to serve as a starting point • SPARQLMotion scripts implementing change management, collaboration support and version control • Specialized import modules for common spreadsheet patterns

  4. Model-driven Change Management • Change Management and Approval processes are described in a governance model • This approach has many benefits: • Process definitions are flexible – different roles and steps can be supported • Different items (groups of items) can have different processes • The model itself is extensible • Changes and change requests are accommodated • Management of changes directly entered in the vocabulary system • As well as change requests submitted as textual descriptions

  5. Overview of the Governance Model

  6. Process used for the demo

  7. Processing is implemented in SPARQLMotion scripts • SPARQLMotion scripts: • Listen for the changes in the data • Infer what and how needs to be acted on • Apply the right steps in the change management processes • Log changes • Send notifications • Out of the box scripts • Support majority of requirements an enterprise may have • Are easily extended and customized to meet unique requirements

  8. Sample SPARQLMotion script

  9. Three Key Datasets: Operational, Change Log and “Gold” or Published • Up to date changes, current state of the work • Work in progress, some may not be approved • Typically, accessed through the web editing application Operational Dataset Vocabulary Schema Vocabulary Data • Populated by the approval/change management processes • Used for reporting and rollback Change Log Dataset Records of all changes • Only approved information and structures • Populated by the approval/change management processes • Typically, accessed through the web application only for viewing and reporting • Used for publishing/transmitting of information to the downstream systems Gold/Published Dataset Vocabulary Schema Vocabulary Data

  10. Process in Action Operation: Change Taxonomy Operational Dataset • Record all information about change operations • Added triples, Removed Triples • Who, When • Identify the appropriate approval process • Set change states, send notifications < :UK :synonym :UnitedKingdom > :UK :synonym :England . > :_b a :Change • :_b :status :Submitted Modify Geographic Taxonomy Change Log Dataset Approve Change Content Editor Published Dataset < :UK :synonym :UnitedKingdom > :UK :synonym :England .
