History • Founded in 1903 • Renamed in 1983 as Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium • The school moved to different locations, but since 1991 it has been in Velbert Birth • Since 2004: general reconstruction of the building and complete renovation of the front
Naming • On the 22nd February 1983, which was the 40th anniversary of the death of Hans and Sophie Scholl, the school got its current name in honour of the two of them • Members of the White Rose, a student group in Munich that was active in the non-violent resistance movement in Nazi Germany, especially in distributing flyers against the war and the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler
