  2. Vision "To be a nationally accepted and internationally recognized leading property association" Mission "SAPOA’s mission is to be committed to actively and responsibly represent, promote and to protect the interests of our member’s commercial activities within the property industry"

Aims and Objectives • SAPOA is committed to protecting the interests of the commercial and industrial property sectors, in terms of ownership, management and development. • Our objectives are based on the principles of the free enterprise system as the only workable economic system and the inalienability of property ownership, not only for its members but also for the future of South Africa, and its competitiveness in the world arena. • SAPOA's aims and objectives include: • Maintaining a unique organisation which encourages its members to share their expertise through active participation in the association; • Fostering key relationships whilst maintaining government acceptability; • Maintaining a non-political bias whilst participating in governmental legislative structures; • Contributing through excellence in educational programmes and setting quality standards; • Providing an efficient forum for responding to change.

  4. SAPOA’s Role SAPOA will continue to encourage the concept of private property ownership and development, and the rewards to be gained by the formerly disadvantaged members of the South African community. Our aim is to: Issue clear standpoints on matters relevant to the property industry where the interests of its members and the economy as a whole are threatened; Encourage formerly disadvantaged members of the community to become involved as owners, developers, employees and managers in the property industry; Enable wider participation in the industry and greater involvement in the affairs of the association by all players through education programmes; Provide a source of information useful not only to our members but also to government at various levels and the industry as a whole, through a significant involvement in the collection and dissemination of property data and statistics; Further expand contacts with government at all levels to ensure our continued good relations and recognition as the authoritative voice of the commercial and industrial property industry.

National Strategy At a recent Strategic Planning session of SAPAO the following items were identified as key objectives; Education Initiatives Advocacy / Lobbying of Government Leadership and Communication Transformation (B-BBEE) Environmental Objectives Research and Standards Best Practice Principals

The Property Sector Transformation Charter - Objectives (SAPOA and related institutes are stakeholders) Promote economic transformation in the property sector to enable meaningful participation of black people including women Unlock obstacles to property ownership and participation in the property market by black people Promote property development and investment in under-resourced areas Achieve change in the racial and gender composition of ownership, control and management Promote employment equity Increase pool of intellectual capital among black people, particularly women Contribute towards increased investment in skills development and training of existing and new black professionals

  7. The Property Sector Transformation Charter – Objectives cont. Enhance entrepreneurial development and increase the number and expertise of BBBEE firms and SMMe’s Increase the procurement of goods and services from BBBEE suppliers Facilitate accessibility of finance Encourage good corporate citizenship amongst enterprises in the sector Promote investment in the sector Enhance uniformity and consistency in the application of the principles contained in the Charter
