Overview • ISO/IEC JTC1 SC25 WG3: • Interconnection of information technology equipment, • Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Cabling Systems for Buildings, • Specified in ISO/IEC 11801 series standards and related documents. • Report covering 1/1/2013 to 6/30/2013 • SC25 WG3 develops cabling systems standards for: • enterprise, industrial and residential environments, • Local Area Networks (LAN), Intelligent Building networks, and Data Centers. Primary objective • ISO/IEC 11801 3rdedition completed its preparatory stage to go forward in the committee stage. • Series of 5 standards • The series revision includes the original two part 11801 2nd edition • Generic cabling for all customer premises • Commercial buildings cabling systems - for the Enterprise. • The new 11801-X series includes three additional related standards, • Industrial, • Residential, • Datacenter cabling. Related projects, in development • ISO/IEC TR11801-99-1, Technical Report for the next generation Twisted-pair cabling, for supporting 40Gb/s applications • Entered the enquiry stage from the last meeting. • In support of the IEEE 802.3bq project for 40GBASE-T, next generation 40G Ethernet over-twisted-pair. • ISO/IEC 14763-3, 2nd edition revision, Standard for Testing 11801 Optical Fiber Cabling Channels • Entered the enquiry stage from the last meeting. • Test method improvements to support component and channel performance improvements for new optical fiber media classes added to ISO/IEC 11801 edition 2.2. (OM4) • Contains some duplications of IEC SC86C standards ISO/IEC SC25 WG1, Kista

Related projects, new • Automated Infrastructure Management (AIM) systems • Automated cabling administration systems: intelligent patch-panels, management program interface • Two open projects: • ISO/IEC 14763-2 Amendment 1, adds informative text covering AIM functional guidelines • Enquiry stage • First amendment of Standard for Implementation and Operation of customer premises cabling, Planning and Installation. • ISO/IEC 18598 new standard for AIM systems • Preparatory stage • Requirements of AIM elements supporting cabling systems within buildings. • ISO/IEC 30129 Telecommunications Bonding • Committee stage • Requirements of bonding-to-earth systems supporting cabling within buildings. • ISO/IEC TR17979-X-X series, specifications for Twinax cable assemblies • Preparatory stage • Transmission characteristics of cable assemblies • Support new IEEE 802.3 Ethernet direct-connection interface standards • Support interconnection cable specifications within SC25 WG4 standards, e.g. SATA.
