3. INTRODUCTION • In light of today being Mother’s Day, we delve into the life of the mother of Moses (Jochebed / Yocheved). Based on these Biblical snapshots we can see a portrait of this great woman that God uses to aid in the deliverance of His children, the children of Israel. • Secondly we present this “Portrait of A Mother” to both encourage our modern day moms as well as show a detailed description of someone that God would allow mothers to look to as a worthy example of the roll of a mother. • Portrait - a detailed description of something or someone.

4. I. Mother’s Ingenuity (Exodus 2:2-3) A. Ingenuity - skill or cleverness that allows someone to solve problems, invent things, etc. B. It was the desire of the Pharaoh that caused Moses mother to have to be clever! (Exodus 1:8-22) C. Learn from the story of Jacob & Esau – Mom helped to launch a deceptive plot (Genesis 25:19-34 & Genesis 27:1-46)

5. II. Mother’s Sacrifice (Exodus 2:3) A. Sacrifice - the act of giving up something that you want to keep… B. We have seen Biblically on occasions the sacrifice that a mother will make for her child. 1. A Powerful example of a mother’s sacrifice in I Kings 3:16-28 (never say never!).

6. III. Mother’s Clandestine Care(Exodus 2:7-9) A. Clandestine - done in a private place or way: done secretly. B. Care - effort made to do something correctly, safely, or without causing damage. Care - things that are done to keep someone healthy, safe, etc. Care - things that are done to keep something in good condition C. A Mother’s care seems to be undying to the END! (See Jesus circumstances!) 1. Jesus mother was present to the end and beyond! (See Matthew 27:50-56, Mark 15:47)
