  1. Enabling Location Based Service Deployment for Corporate and Consumer Mobile Applications

  2. Agenda • Location Tracking Technology • Enabling LBS Deployment • ASP using Open Location API • Service Provision • Live Demo • Resource Tracking + Job Dispatch

  3. Why Location Tracking ?

  4. What’re Applications? • Fleet Management • Resource Tracking • Job Dispatch • Personal Safety

  5. Location Tracking Technology

  6. What’s GPS (Global Positioning System) ? Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite based navigation system operated and maintained by the U.S. Department of Defense. A 2-D position calculation requires 3 satellites. However, determination of position using GPS satellites requires a clear view of the sky. Tall buildings in dense urban areas and terrain features such as tunnels and multi-deck bridges can block a GPS antenna's view of the sky.

  7. What’s DR (Dead Reckoning) ? Dead reckoning (DR) is the process of calculating a position using current heading and speed to project from the last known position. This provides position when GPS satellite signals are temporarily blocked. Estimation by - Speedometer Distance Travel - Heading Sensor Direction Change

  8. SIM Tracking • Java SIM Based • Work with GSM Handsets (Handy) • Cell Based • NMR Based (Network Measurement Report) • Higher Accuracy: ~ 150m Urban, ~1.5km Rural • Location Reporting Mode • Control Center Location Enquiry • Regular Location Reporting

  9. SIM Tracking Mechanism

  10. SIM Tracking Mechanism - Cell ID Based

  11. SIM Tracking Mechanism - NMR Based - Neighbor Signal Strength - Mobile Network Architecture

  12. SIM Tracking Measurement - NMR Based

  13. SIM + GPS Tracking (+ DR + Map Correction) • GPS Tracking • Intelligently Switch to GSM Positioning as no GPS received • High Accuracy • Combination of both GSM & GPS • Integrated unit • Well Suited for vehicle and ship

  14. GSM / GPS Marine Positioning System Latitude, Longitude, Speed, Course

  15. Integration with Digitized Map
