  1. Contacts Cont. Classroom Volunteers Wanted Homework Policy Dear Parents, Homework is a great way to reinforce concepts previously taught in the classroom. It is my goal to create a sense of responsibility in each student so that he or she performs to the best of his or her ability. If you have any questions regarding my homework policy please email me at larissa.sivertsen@k21schools.org • Late/Incomplete homework : • Late homework will be accepted, but for how much credit will be at my discretion. This also applies for partially finished homework. A call will be made after 2-3 days of missed assignments. • When your child is sick: • That is strictly a parent’s call. I do not expect your child to complete homework if they are too ill. It can be made up later when they are feeling better. • Weekly homework assignments: • Spelling homework for the week will be available to students online through a program called “Spelling City”. To access this website please go to http://www.spellingcity.com/larissasivertsen/

  2. Contacts Cont. Classroom Volunteers Wanted Homework Policy Continued... • Each student will have spelling assignments to complete before the spelling test on Friday. If you do not have access to online resources please contact me and we can work something out for your child. • In addition, our math program has a homework component that will come home nearly everyday. It is due the following day it is assigned. • Students are also required to read a minimum of 20 minutes a day Monday-Friday. On the weekends they will be responsible for reading a TOTAL of 20 minutes. • Parents: Please be sure to sign your child’s reading log daily. • On Thursday’s students will be asked to write a short letter to a family member. Below their letter will be a space reserved for a response/letter back to the student. • Parents: Your response is due the following day. I will keep all of the letters, and by the end of the school year I will put together a journal keepsake for you and your child.
