Influences on health status • There are many factors that contribute to the differences experienced in both developed and developing countries. • An understanding of these factors is essential in reducing the inequalities that exist globally.
Influences on health status • As it is always a combination of elements that contribute to the health outcomes of a population, it is difficult to look at factors in isolation. Some of the factors we will be examining include: Gender Equality Physical Environment Education Access to Health Care
Income • GDP – Gross Domestic Produce GDP is the market value of all goods and services produced in a country in a given year. • It is a reflection of the wealth of a country and affects how much money is available to spend on services and infrastructure.

Gender Equality • The disadvantage of women
Peace/ Political stability • War and conflict have a major influence on health and human development
Governments and individuals working together to produce effective health and development outcomes • If governments don’t have the best interests of the people at heart health and devel0pment will be effected
