Overview of CECIP and Its Recent Developments in Legal Metrology

CECIP, representing 15 national associations of the weighing industry across Europe, has initiated significant changes to its statutes in 2013, allowing individual companies to join provided no national federation is already a member. The organization has cultivated new cooperative activities since the last CIML in 2012, engaging with non-European and European federations to discuss and harmonize aspects of international legal metrology. Recent actions include collaboration with laboratories METAS and PTB to obtain MTL status under the OIML MAA, aiming for global competition and quality assurance.

  2. About CECIP: • Members are 15 national associations of weighing industry including weights. • National associations are from: Austria Czech Republic France Germany Hungary Ireland Italy Netherlands Poland Romania Russia Slovak Republic Spain Switzerland United Kingdom

  3. About CECIP: Change in CECIP Statutes 2013: • individual companies may become members as well with requirement that there is no national federation which is already member or wants to become member in that country • membership is restricted to Europe

  4. About CECIP: New activities since last CIML in 2012: CECIP LMG started co-operation with non-European weighing industry: First is • to discuss and harmonize view in international legal metrology • to inform about new development in national and international metrology

About CECIP: New activities in 2013 3 CECIP members started actions with issuing authorities METAS and PTB to become MTL under the OIML MAA • All 3 laboratories already had their OIML peer assessments in September 2013 with positive result. • The laboratories hope for approval and listing in beginning of 2014 • Others shall follow all over the world; we need them to grant quality and global fair competition
