2. Board Goals The Board of Education of the Inglewood Unified School District sees and accepts its role in setting the course for learning in the District by and through the development of policies. The Board has adopted the following Goals.
3. Fiscal Solvency Adhere to sound business policies and practices
Ensure a balanced budget
Review use and allocation of categorical funds
Conduct yearly financial audits, including categorical funds
Incorporate audit recommendations into policy
Prepare a three-year (3) year projection of finances
Maintain a 4% Reserve for Economic Uncertainties
Continue negotiations, seek and expand external funding sources i.e. LAX, redevelopment fees, and other funds besides state funds, including hardship, etc.

Accountability Direct the full implementation of accountability systems for students, teachers, staff and administrators such as curriculum assessment; attendance monitoring; textbook distribution; recruitment and retention of qualified teachers, improving services in the Human Resources division, etc.
5. Student Achievement Adopt high performance & expectations for all students
Place special emphasis on middle and high school
Establish higher standards on all subjects of the curriculum, with special emphasis on mathematics, science, and K12 literacy
Expand the use of the PSAT
Support the full implementation of the standardized, comprehensive technology plan designed to improve instruction
Adopt and enforce policies and practices regarding Physical Fitness, Healthy Foods, Vending Machines, etc. which promote an environment conducive to good health.
6. Textbooks / Library Materials Continue to provide each classroom with adequate supply of textbooks, instructional materials, provide up to date library materials and facilities
Anticipate growth
Assign a staff member at each site and one at the District Office to facilitate the ordering, delivery, distribution, and monitoring of all textbooks
Conduct yearly audit of textbooks
Use technology to monitor issuance & recovery of textbooks
Enforce the bar coding system
Ensuring that orders are submitted in a timely manner
Establish accountability system for students and parents
Provide adequate staff to prepare library materials
7. Attendance Implement appropriate and proper measures and provide resources designed to improve students and staff attendance
Provide continuous staff development training for staff on collection of student attendance and reporting procedures
Hire permanent employees to collect, record and report student attendance
Correlate data between schools and technology department for accuracy
Implement an effective employee attendance monitoring system.
8. Instructional Accountability Systems Support the full implementation of instructional accountability systems that emphasize student and curricular assessment, staff development, and peer review and assistance
9. Technology Support the full implementation of the technology plan designed to improve business and other District-wide educational operations including, but not limited to:
Payroll
Purchasing
Accounting
Food Services
Review and report on the E-Rate Program on a yearly basis.
10. Measure K Renovation and Construction Program Conduct a yearly review of the Measure K District Master Plan to ensure achievement of bond improvement goals at each school as promised to the community
Review the structure and operations of the Measure K Citizens’ Oversight Committee
Receive regular reports from the Measure K staff to ensure opportunity for structural input by the Board in the development of the projects
11. Board of Education Member Professional Development Continue to commit time to personal development as educational leaders
Participate in development programs designed for Board of Education Members
Continue to advocate for the Inglewood Unified School District and for public education
Continue to participate in vision tours of the schools of the District.
12. School Learning Environment and Student Safety Continue to expect that each school learning environment is conducive to learning excellence and is safe for all children.
Ensure compliance of Senate Bill 187 at all schools and minimize impact of AB 115 on the Inglewood Unified School District
Provide yearly reports of school safety plans for Board review
13. Student Options Continue to strive for educational programs that include student options designed to address individual needs of students including, but not limited to:
Academy, vocational & SCROC programs
Magnet Schools or Units
School to School Career Programs
After School Programs
Independent Study
Ensure that students will achieve a sellable skill prior to graduating

14. Community Outreach Actively advocate and support programs and activities that enhance the educational programs of the Inglewood Unified School District.
Community involvement
Volunteers & Mentoring program
Representation at meetings pertaining to the LAX
Outreach to businesses and service clubs
Adopt-a-School Program
Contact Trade Unions for alternatives, job fairs and internships
Survey for parents providing options for students that do not pass the (CAHSEE)
