  4. ACHIEVEMENTS OF PLANS MADE AT THE EXTRA IMPULSE PARALYMPICS SEMINARS OF 2004

  5. Healthy Paralympians Program

  6. OBJECTIVES The main objective was to Sensitize people with disability to fight against HIV/AIDS. We did this project by using sports as weapon in all Provinces of Rwanda. (12 Provinces)

  7. The impact: • Most of People with disability we met, they are aware or know the impact of HIV/AIDS in their health.

  8. The impact: • 90% of our athletes and members of our NPC are aware on impact of HIV/AIDS in their future career.

  9. The impact: • New clubs have been created in Gisenyi, Kibungo,Umutara and Ruhengeri.

  10. The impact: • New athletes have been recruited. • Communication between countries members of HPP has been created.

  11. THE PARTICIPANTS: 2,044 persons: • 1 446 Males • 598 Females • 1 354 People with disability

  13. PARTICIPATION • UGANDA : 23 persons • TANZANIA : 21 persons • RWANDA : 106 persons TOTAL 150 PERSONS

  15. TRAINING OF TRAINERS • WHEEL CHAIR RUGBY: 25 Coaches • WHEEL CHAIR BASKET BALL: 20 Coaches • SITTING VOLLEY BALL: 12 Coaches

  16. TRAINING OF TEACHERS IN 50 PRIMARY SCHOOLS ON RIGHT OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITY IN EDUCATION AND SPORTS ACTIVITIES

  18. INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS • WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OF STANDING VOLLEY-BALL IN GERMANY 2004 • GRAND PRIX DE LONDRE 2005 • WORLD CUP OF STANDING V.B IN CANADA 2005 • 22nd EUROPIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS OF SITZ-BALL IN GERMANY 2005

  19. INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS • TRIPLE WORLD CUP OF VOLLEY-BALL IN NETHERLAND 2006 • WE ARE ORGANISING THE 1st WORLD CUP OF SITZ-BALL IN RWANDA THIS NOVEMBER 2006

  20. PROBLEMS: • LACK OF INFRASTRUCTURES WITH ACCESSIBILITY, • LACK OF MATERIALS • LACK OF FUNDS OF DEVELOPMENT

  21. PROBLEMS: • LACK OF QUALIFIED TRAINERS AND CLASSIFIERS IN SPORTS • THE NUMBER OF ATHLETES WITH DISABILITY IS VERY LOW AT THE GRASS ROOTS ONLY 30%

  22. PROBLEMS: • THE NUMBER OF WOMEN IN SPORT IS VERY DOWN ONLY 3% IN GENERAL. • WE HAVE ONLY 15 WOMEN ATHLETES IN LOCAL COMPETITIONS, WE DON’T HAVE ANY ONE AT TOP LEVEL • WE HAVE 12ATHLETES AT TOP LEVEL IN STANDING VOLLEY-BALL, 10 IN SITZ-BALL, AND ONLY 1 IN ATHLETICS
