  1. Why Law Enforcement Agencies Are Adopting Drone Detection Law enforcement

  2. Why law enforcement One of the biggest disadvantages of technology in law enforcement is that it can quickly become obsolete. As circumstances change over time and technologies become mainstream, people find ways to circumvent that technology. As a result, police are constantly looking for new ways to improve their technology and how they use it. Fortunately, drone use in law enforcement is becoming more popular and giving police the advantage in handling situations. Here is a deeper look at why law enforcement agencies are adopting drone detection.

  3. Thermal Scanning Can See What Is Hidden Drones have become more popular thanks to their size, cost, and addition of new scanning features. Thermal drone scanners are a popular addition to drone scanners because they let police see things that are hidden. Thermal scanners use infrared light to show heat sources, which can be detected behind solid objects and with relatively good clarity. This means that police can see potential threats or victims that are not easily seen using regular scanners. Imagine police going into a building needing to find someone that is injured. The building is falling apart and has no lights, and it is the middle of the night. Looking with flashlights can help, but there are parts of the building that are hard to navigate through because it is falling apart. The police could send a drone that can easily navigate over rubble and use a thermal scanner to see heat in the dark and through walls. Thermal scanners make it easy to see heat sources when other methods of searching are unlikely to produce results.

  4. Drones Can Go Places Where People Cannot Drones have a distinct advantage over people: they can fly. That means that they can easily go places where people cannot. Depending on the choice of drones for public safety, small drones can fit into difficult spaces that people are too large for. In places where the ground is not safe to walk on, drones can fly over the rubble. Even in jungles that are too thick to get through, drones can fly over or through the trees to get where they need to go. Police are using this feature to reach areas that were previously out of their reach.

  7. Drone Scanning is Faster Than Searching On Foot Because drones are able to fly overhead, they can cover a wide area in a shorter amount of time. With thermal scanning, police can complete searches more quickly because they aren’t having to search on foot. Drones also move much faster than a person could walk. With the right programming, a single drone can cover an entire area in a fraction of the time that an entire police unit could.

  8. Drones Can See In The Dark Drones have several scanner options that see well in the dark. Thermal scanners are a good option, but drones can also use night vision. If there are police in the area that need to see visually, many drones are designed to hold attachments that can provide more light, like the Z15 Gimbal Spotlight. With so many options, finding things at night is much easier with a drone in the area.

  9. Drones Can Survey Safely Drone detection is perfect for police who are not allowed up close to dangerous situations. The drone can monitor a situation without the risk of causing harm to anyone. Most drones have high-definition, long-range cameras and sensors. This lets them observe a situation from a safe distance. In the event that dangerous gasses may be in the area, a drone can enter the area and search with the right sensors. For example, this DJI U10 Methane Sensor lets drones safely inspect for methane leaks where police cannot go.
