  4. Objectives • To develop and implement an inclusive monitoring methodology that includes government and civil society and that supports the implementation of SDG16 • To make the monitoring open and transparent and associated data and information publically available • To support the processes of monitoring and reporting progress on SDG16 • Inclusiveness of data – official & non-official sources

  6. Example of possible report cards - showing use of different types of data at national level Principles: • Measure what matters at country level • Provide insights of political settlement and context not just scores • Be score-informed by local conditions not score-driven • Use multiple score/data sources (official, internal, external…) • Always re-evaluate scores/reports – periodicity of reporting

  7. On types and forms of reporting • Annual SDG report • Compiled by Statistics Division on behalf of SG in time for HLPF in July • It will include data/statistics from global indicator framework (no country focus, but region) • National SDG reports • Informal non-mandatory from the follow up review • No timetable for submission, but Member States to decide • National voluntary reviews • Under HLPF where countries volunteer a minimum of two reports by 2030 2016: Georgia | Mexico 2017: El Salvador | Indonesia | Uruguay ?: Tunisia | South Africa
