  3. Calcium carbonate is a chemical compound of the formula CaCO3. It is a very common substance in nature, forming rocks, as a major component in all parts of the world and is the main component of shells and skeletons of many organisms. In medicine is commonly used as a calcium supplement, as an antacid and adsorbent. It is essential in the production of glass and cement, among other products.

  4. Carbonate calcium is found in rocks caused by chemical precipitation as carbonate mud in seas or lakes that were then consolidated by compaction and elevation of the substrate that contains them. They are classified in relation to insoluble residues containing. When the impurity is between 2 to 3% without the presence of heavy elements (such as Pb, As, W, Sn, etc.), is considered very high purity and used almost exclusively for animal food industry.

  6. Industrial products of calcium carbonate are almost as varied as their applications Loads are required, in general, high whiteness and grain size from 40-20 mm (putty, tar caulking, sealants, adhesives) and from 10 to 0.7 mm (paper, paints, plastics, rubber). The grain size is a determinant in the price.
