  2. Introduction • In 1933 nearly 13,000,000 people in the U.S. were unemployed. • The Great Depression was a tragic time. • It affected most Americans.

  3. The Roaring Twenties • There was great prosperity • The Charleston was a new dance craze • America was good after World War I

  4. Signs of Trouble • They didn’t have enough money in banks • People went into debt • People bought a lot of stock

  5. Black Tuesday • People began to call October 29th Black Tuesday • Stocks sales began to drop on this day • Business lost lots of money

  6. Depth of Depression • By 1932, more than 12 million people were unemployed • Schools closed down • More 20k teachers lost jobs
