  2. Our Purpose This session is designed to get you back in tip-top Continuous Classroom Improvement (CCI) shape before we start the 2013-2014 school year. You will be given a brief overview of Steps 1-4 and review the expectations for Steps 5-8 as we move into our second year of CCI. This is a great way to refresh your CCI knowledge and get any of your CCI questions answered before the start of the year.

  3. Steps 1-4: Above the Line Steps • Learning Requirements • Strategic Yearlong Goals • Charting Learning Goals • Mission Statement(s)

  4. These are your paw print posters! If you took them down, you need to put them back up as part of putting your room back together. Newbies to Ridge... You should have paw print posters in your room with your learning requirements. If you don’t please let Annette Steele know.

  5. Step 2: Learning Goal Expectations Specific date: Dec. 20, 2013 or May 22, 2014 – this depends on whether or not you have a semester or yearlong goal. You must include the year! Double Percentage: 100% of students will earn 90% or higher Multiple Measurements: More than just the final exam!

  6. Step 2: Learning Goal Expectations Example: By May 22nd, 2014 100% of students will demonstrate mastery of the English Language Arts learning requirements as measured by earning 90% or higher on quarterly benchmark and final exams. Template: By DATE100% of students will demonstrate mastery of the CONTENT AREAlearning requirements as measured by earning 90% or higher on quarterly benchmark and final exams.

  7. More information on the in’s and out’s of graphing with CCI will come later!! 

  8. New to Ridge? Partner with your department leader to get a copy of your department’s mission statement. Want to draft a mission statement for your individual classes? You can use the step-by step directions found in the Creating a Classroom Mission Statement power point on the CCI Resource page of our school website!

  9. Steps 1-4 all go above the line!! All of the above the line items need to be posted on the first day of school with the exception of your pre-test data! Your pre-test data needs to be posted by August 23, 2013. Remember, steps 1-4 do not change throughout the semester/year!

  10. Steps 5-8: The Cycle Steps 5-8 happen all the time! You should constantly be somewhere in the cycle! Cycle lengths will vary by unit and by class, but your cycle should ideally run 7-10 days. • Plan • Do • Study • Act

  11. Remember, the objective or goal stated in the PLAN should be directly aligned to your learning goal for the year or semester.

  12. April 1-5: Objective Our learning target for April 1 – April 5, 2013 is to compose a micro-argument where a personal bias is defended and the opposing viewpoint is refuted with strong credible research. Measurement of Proficiency A score of 85% (42.5/50) or higher on the personal bias micro-argument.

  13. Remember, you can find a comprehensive list of high-yield strategies on the resources page on the website!

  14. Remember, there are TWO parts to the “study part.” You also need to include the dates of the cycle on everything!

  15. Steps 7 & 8 work together to set the next cycle up for success!

  16. CCI Norms: 2013-2014 School Year • Choose one prep • You will need to select the prep you teach the most • If you have specific concerns regarding the prep you will be working with for CCI, you need to email your evaluator • 90% mastery of learning requirements for the semester/year long learning goal

  17. CCI Norms: 2013-2014 School Year • Cycles should be continuous so that there is direct alignment between the plan (step 5) and the curriculum being taught • Steps 1-4 need to be up on the first day of school – the exception being step 3 (pre-test data) which needs to be up by the end of the second week of school (August 23, 2013).

  18. CCI Norms: 2013-2014 School Year • Track individual learning data – more information on this will be shared throughout the year through prep talks and other professional development opportunities

  19. CCI Resources Everything that you need to be successful with CCI this year can be accessed on the CCI Resource page (under the For Teachers header) on the MRHS website!
