IBM DB2 DBA: DB2 DBA is a RDBMS (Relational Database Management System) product from IBM which serve number of different OS (Operating System) platforms. The maximum Partition Size is 1TB. • The RPN Table Spaces will allow to store a LOT of more data, so reach the capacity size of existing Table Space options. Of course, it requires expanded RID, increases from 5 Bytes to 7 Bytes. • So it impact’s the DDL for mapping the table for Online REORG Utilities. RPN Table Spaces improve availability, but size is not only the issue. It specifies RPN Table Spaces for DSSIZE at the partition level. • So each Partition has its own, different DSSIZE Specifications. Further, the allowable DSSIZE value is no longer Depend on the page number and size of Table Space partitions. • The DSSIZE changes are immediate change (no Online REORG required) as long as the changes do not decrease the DSSIZE value. Migrating larger Range-Partitioned Table Spaces to RPN takes the advantages new capabilities. Define a Database by using a CREATE DATABASE statement. • When a Table Space is created, it is either implicitly or explicitly assigned to an existing Database. • If we create a Table Space and don’t specify a Database name, by default in the Database Table Space is created. • DB2 Implicitly uses existing implicitly Created Database for the Table or uses an Created Database. • All the users who has the authority to create Tables in Databases or Table Spaces in an implicitly created Database. • If the Table Space is implicitly created, and you do not specify the IN clause in the CREATE TABLE statement, DB2 implicitly creates the database to which the table space is assigned. Tips for DB2 DBA: • A single Database contains the data which is associated with one application or with group of related application. • Collecting the Data in one Database allows starting or stopping access all the data in one operation. • Also grant authorization for accessing all the Data as a Single Unit. Authorized to Access Data which is stored in different Databases. • Keep minimal number of Tables in Table Space, and a minimal number of Table Space in each Database. • Excessive numbers of Tables and Table Spaces in a database can decrease the Manageability and the Performance issues. Reduce the number of Tables and Table Spaces in a Database, minimize maintenance, improve performance, decrease log volume, and increase concurrency.
