How Good A Waiter Am I? Luke 12:35-48. Eschatology (teaching about the future) in the Bible is not so much to inform us of the details of the future as to prepare us to serve God faithfully today. Jesus spoke often of His return.
Patience is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is a spiritual quality to be developed.
Peter’s question is never directly answered in v. 41, but instead Jesus tells another parable story.
For the Faithful the Lord’s Return Holds RewardsLuke 12:37; 42-44
2. For the Unfaithful the Return of Christ Holds Terror Luke 12:45-48
47 “The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. 48 But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”
There are types of servants with three degrees of unfaithfulness or disobedience, resulting in three punishments.
b. There is a second scenario of a servant who knows his Master’s will, but doesn’t get around to do what this Master wants. He is punished with many blows.
Keep Watching and be ready. Concentrate on being faithful the whole time he is gone and look forward to the Master’s return.
