The Application Process: National Process • UK Graduates’ eligibility confirmed by medical school • 30 September 2013 - applicants register and confirm on National Foundation Programme Application System (FPAS) • Applications open – 7 October 2013 • Applications close - 18 October 2013 (12 noon)

The Application Process • Follow link to FPAS – Click on Apply to Foundation Programme. • Enter email address – this will be your username for future logins • You will be emailed a password • Confirm you are a nominated applicant • Once you have confirmed you can then view your EPM score
The Application Form: National Personal details • Name, address, telephone numbers etc.. • Disabilities or Health Issues • Unspent and spent convictions • Name changes
The Application Form: National Qualifications and educational achievements • Confirm if you are a UK medical student • GMC registration status • Primary medical degree or expected date of qualification • Post qualification experience – (only applicable if already completed Medical School) • Other educational qualifications – (only completed additional higher qualifications, not linked to EA section)
The Application Form: National Clinical skills • These are the clinical & practical skill the GMC requires you to have attained by the end of medical school. • Tick: attained, expect to attain or do not expect to attain • Please be honest with your answers.
The Application Form: National Equal Opportunities monitoring • Required by the health service for monitoring purposes • Age • Gender • Ethnic origin • Religious beliefs • Disability as per the Equality Act 2010 • All fields mandatory but you can choose “I do not wish to disclose
The Application Form: National References - 12th March – 9th April 2014 • 2 referees required • One from your medical school – Professor, senior lecture, reader, honorary contract, etc … • One practicing hospital consultant, GP or associate specialist • Must be able to comment of your medical school & clinical performance • Known you for at least 6 months, ideally 1 year • Ask permission in advance • Provide current email address – NOT hotmail account • Can change referee details until the reference period is closed
The Application Form: National Educational Achievements This section is scored Additional degrees – worth up to 5 points • In addition to your primary medical degree • Postgrad certificates or diplomas DO NOT COUNT. • You will be required to confirm subject, institution & year of qualification • Choose the one to give you the most points • Upload copy – clearly named and class included.
The Application Form: National Educational Achievements This section is scored Publications – worth up to 2 points • Must have a PubMed ID number • List all authors in order they appear, your name in CAPITALS • Title, year of Publication, Journal or Book, Volume or page.

Academic Interviews • Shortlisted applicants to have local interview • 29th Nov & 4th & 5th December, Don Valley House, Sheffield • Clinical and academic stations & presentation stations • Shortlisting and interview scores combined and entered on FPAS • Offers subject to SJT results • SJTs – 6 December 2013 and 6 January 2014
Offers - Academic • Offers – 22 January 2014 • Applicants have 2 working days to accept or decline • If no response, offer will be withdrawn • Cascade process – 28January – 19 February 2014 • Offers subject to SJT results • Unsuccessful applicants continue in national foundation process
