  1. Construction for Qatar 2022 World Cup By: Usama Usman 5A

  2. Introduction In TAP, we have been working on a project for the systems we will/might have in 2022 for the World Cup. We had to choose 5 questions and research the answers for them. Sara and I chose construction for our projects and this presentation answers my five questions.

  3. What is the purpose and why is it needed? Construction is always important when you have a really important event going on, like the World Cup. There has to be enough space to build the stadiums and the housing and all that.

  4. What are the consequences? The consequences of not getting the building done would get Qatar a very, very bad review the world over, meaning there would be no tourism and people might not even think about buying our gas and oil.

  5. How does it work? First, you have to have the design and structure of the stadium. Then, you get your construction materials like concrete, glass and steel. After that, you have to BUILD the building itself. Finally, you have to put in the air conditioning and the paint and the wiring.

  6. Construction Material I read somewhere that Albert Speer and partner GmbH designed the stadiums you will see in the video in the “Appearance of stadiums” slide. I asked them how much construction material it would take to make a stadium capable of holding 45,000 people. They replied that (quoted) “Currently we can offer you the images and renderings of the stadiums ofthe FIFA World Cup 2022.Futher information for the construction and material are not released yet. Please do not hesitate to contact us again.”

  7. Building in the desert I was wondering if they needed more space for the buildings, they could build in the desert, but how would they build in the desert because the ground isn’t stable. So, I found my answer on CR4.They can stabilize the sand by pounding steel beams into it with a pile driver and build on it.

  8. Current stadia renovations Gharafa Stadium will have a major renovation from holding 25,000 people to holding 44,740 people and it will coloured ribbons on the outside. Khalifa Stadium currently holds 50,000 people, but, it will hold 68,030 people for the World Cup. The Al-Rayyan Stadium in Al-Rayyan holds 21,282 people right now, but it will be renovated to hold 44,740 people.

  9. Appearance of stadia Video The Lusail Iconic Stadium is an almost circular stadium with a moat and it will be connected to the park with six bridges. It will probably be finished in 2019. The Gharafa stadium has coloured ribbons on the outside, stretched between metal girders. The Shamal stadium shape is inspired by the traditional Arabic ship, the dhow. The Doha Port stadium is on the port (obviously!) and you can arrive by water taxi. You can arrive the same way to the Shamal stadium. The Al-Khor stadium is shaped like a seashell.

  10. Stadium capacities There are 12 stadia and I found out how many people they’re expected to hold. Umm-Salal: 45,120 people Al-Shamal: 45,120 people Al-Khor: 45,330 people Al-Wakrah: 45,000 people Al-Rayyan (Education City): (including modular upper tier) 44,740 people (after the World Cup, it will be downsized to hold 25,000 for the University’s hockey team).

  11. The rest of the stadium Al-Rayyan (Khalifa Stadium): 68,030 people Al-Rayyan (Al-Rayyan): 44,740 Al-Gharafa: (including modular upper tier) 44,740 people Qatar University Stadium: 43,520 people Sports City Stadium: 47,560 people Al-Dayeen (Lusail Iconic Stadium): 86,520 people Doha Port Stadium: 44,950 people

  12. Thank you! Thank you for watching!    Hope to see you in 2022! I have another presentation about what the stadium will look like: 2022SA
