First Grade Newsletter Priceville Elementary School “Where Dreams Take Flight” May 5 – 9, 2014 HOMEWORK • MONDAY Read tonight’s story and practice High Frequency Words and Spelling Words. • TUESDAY Readtonight’s story and practice High Frequency Words and Spelling Words. • WEDNESDAY Read tonight’s story and practice High Frequency Words and write Spelling Words 5 times each. • THURSDAY Math worksheet; Read tonight’s story and write the Spelling Words that you missed 5 times each. • FRIDAYRead a book of your choice. CLASSROOM STUDIES READING: • Unit 6: Weekly Concept- Weather Together • High Frequency Words:been, children, month, question, their, year • COMPREHENSION STRATEGY:Visualize • COMPREHENSION SKILLS: Plot/Cause and Effect • LANGUAGE:Special Pronouns • SPELLING:gnat, gnu, know, knife, write, wrong, cause, dawn, been, their MATH:Greater Than, Less Than, 120 Chart, Data, Adding Double Digits Assessments • Thursday….Spelling Test, Phonics Quiz • Friday….Unit 6 Week 3Reading Test (Remember to practice the skills. The test will be on the skills from a story that you have not read.), Spelling Test (If you did not make 10/10 on Thursday), Grammar Daily Fix-It Test,, MathFluency with Numbers through 10, 120 Chart, Place Value, Data, Adding Double Digits Talent Show Tryouts (2 Students from each grade level will perform.) First Grade Talent Show Tryouts will be Friday, May 9th. Students will need to bring everything they need for their talent for the 1:30 tryouts. REMINDERS • Turn in BoxTops – The class with the most turned in will get a Pizza Party at the end of the 9 weeks! Deadline is May 16. • Paws Summer Program • Enrollment has begun for the PAWS Summer Program. Hours are 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM each day. If you have any questions you may contact Amy Hood at amhood@morgank12.org • Library Information • Last day to check out a book--May 16 • Last library class day--May 16 • Last day to take AR test--May 23 • Last day to pay for a lost book--May 29 • Last Book Order • Send Order and $ by Friday, May 9, 2014 • All Pictures or Picture Money is due by May 14th!
