  2. What Is MONAHRQ? Windows-based software from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to help you and your organization create your own healthcare reports and websites • Evidence-based – uses measures, data sources, and reporting techniques that are based on research • Quick – generates reports and websites in days, not months • Easy – designed to be intuitive so no training is needed to use it • Flexible – allows customization to ensure that the reports and websites are relevant • Free – provided by AHRQ at no cost to anyone who wants to produce health care reports and websites The purpose of MONAHRQ is to help increase transparency by disseminating evidence-based information that is understandable and useful for improving health care safety, quality and affordability.   3. MONAHRQ Offers Report and Website Options Based on Your Audience(s) Evidence-based research shows that consumers understand and use reports differently than other audiences. When you create a MONAHRQ-generated website, you select the type of target audience. • The website will include different default reports depending on your choice • Each option has several types of reports: Hospital Quality, Utilization, Profiles and Avoidable Stays • Websites can be public or private Reports are designed to be understandable for: • Consumers • The general public • Patients and family members • People who are less familiar with medical or statistical concepts Reports may show statistical information useful for: • Health care leaders • Policy makers • Researchers or analysts • People who are more familiar with medical or statistical concepts

Topics That Can Be Included in MONAHRQ Reports Timely and effective care • Heart care • Pneumonia care • Surgical care effectiveness • Emergency Department efficiency • Flu prevention care • Stroke care • Children’s asthma care • Blood clot prevention and treatment • Pregnancy and delivery care Patient experience Readmissions, complications, and deaths • Death rates within 30 days • Readmission rates within 30 days • Surgical complications • Healthcare associated infections

  7. Examples of MONAHRQ Reports Hospital Profile — a new MONAHRQ report that provides a hospital overview (e.g., location, beds, website address), quality ratings, and utilization data for each hospital

  8. Examples of MONAHRQ Reports (continued) Quality of Hospital Care — This report includes comparison ratings by hospital and health topic, plus quality statistics for a wide range of measures

  9. Examples of MONAHRQ Reports (continued 2) Inpatient Hospital and Emergency Department (ED) Utilization — This report includes detailed information about discharges, estimated costs by hospital, and rates for conditions and procedures and comparison ratings

  10. Examples of MONAHRQ Reports (continued 3) Potentially Avoidable Hospital Stays and Cost Savings — This report includes comparison ratings, the rates of potentially avoidable hospital stays by health topic and by county, plus for each, estimates cost savings if the rates are reduced

Customize Reports and Websites With MONAHRQ, you can customize report attributes then save the custom reports to your Reports Library • Use these reports again later with updated data or in different combinations to create as many MONAHRQ-generated websites as you need MONAHRQ allows you to customize many elements, such as: • Website theme, colors, logo, image and fonts • Reports: audience type, title, description, footer, filters (Hospital, DRG and Discharge, and Conditions and Diagnosis), and designated results columns • Geographic area as an alternative to the default ‘county’ • “About Us” description • Feedback topics for your audience website users to email their comments regarding the website or reports • Keywords for use in search engine optimization • Analytics tracking • Your own Google Maps API instead of the default map included
