  4. Where the Dollars Go • Since 1990, Parkinson SuperWalk has raised more than $25 million to fund vital research, education, support services and advocacy, on behalf of the over 100,000 Canadian’s with Parkinson’s disease and their 400,000 family, friends and caregivers.

  5. Where the Dollars Go Funds raised support: • Research: Parkinson Society Canada funds many innovative projects and an impressive group of talented scientists dedicated to finding the causes and a cure. The future of Parkinson’s research in Canada depends on a solid foundation of discovery research. As a direct result of our investments, we have seen several Canadian researchers at the start of their careers advance to establish their own research facilities and clinics. This past year, PSC provided $1.4 million to 28 vital research projects. Since 1981, more than $20 million has been invested in the National Research Program. • Education: PSC and 9 regional partners provide credible, up-to-date resources that meet the needs of Canadians living with Parkinson’s, their care partners, health professionals and the public. • Support Services: PSC provides a National Information and Referral Centre (1-800-565-3000) while each regional partner offers resources within their geographical area. Calls were up by 10 per cent over 2009. • Advocacy: Parkinson Society Canada is the national voice of Canadians living with Parkinson’s. PSC has a National Advocacy Network to lobby government at all levels.
