Lady Of Guadalupe In 1531 a "Lady from Heaven" appeared to a poor Indian at Tepeyac, a hill northwest of Mexico City; she identified herself as the Mother of the True God, instructed him to have the bishop build a temple on the site and left an image of herself imprinted miraculously on his tilma, a poor quality cactus-cloth, which should have deteriorated in 20 years but shows no sign of decay 469 years later and still defies all scientific explanations of its origin.

Location Of Mexico Mexico is located in Middle America, bordering the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, between Belize and the U.S and Bordering the North Pacific Ocean, between Guatemala and the United States. Mexico has 9,330 km. of ocean coastline and is smaller than three times the size of Texas.

  5. Climate and Land Forms The climate varies from tropical rain forests to arid deserts. It has high mountains, low coastal plains, high plateaus, and deserts

  6. Natural Resources Natural resources are petroleum, silver, copper, gold, lead, zinc, natural gas and timber.

  7. Language The primary language of Mexico is Spanish, however Mayan, Nahuatl and other Indian languages are spoken throughout the country.

  8. Exports Mexico exports corn, which is one of the world’s greatest grain crops. They Also export beans, rice, and different Mexican products around the world.

  9. Environment Mexico can have tsunamis along the Pacific coast or volcanoes and destructive earthquakes in the center and south of the country. The environment of Mexico is very important to the government.

  10. Population In July 2004 the population was approximately 105 million people. Sixty percent of the population is mestizo (American Indian-Spanish).

  11. Flag ofMexico The colors of the flag are green, white and red. The green stand for the Independence Movement. The white stands for the purity of the Catholic faith. The red stands for the Spaniards that joined in the quest of independence and the blood of national heroes.

  12. Currency The money of Mexico is called pesos. There are a hundred centavos in one peso.
