  1. 20 cubic meters per day 1.2 – 1.6 m Mission: 2. Innovating a lower cost alternative Provide a solar based water pumping method for the SUNU Farm in Senegal, Africa Stirling Engine 20 m 1. Data-basing existing solar pumps 2. Innovating a low cost alternative Vision: 2 m The Stirling Engine is a heat engine that converts heat to mechanical work SUN’S ENERGY Values: Gamma Stirling Engine ENGINE/PUMP ASSEMBLY Location: CROPS • Power piston (dark grey) has compressed the gas, the displacer piston (light grey) has moved so that most of gas is adjacent to the hot heat exchanger. • The heated gas increase in pressure and pushes power piston to farthest limit of power stroke • Displacer piston now moves, shunting gas to cool end of cylinder • Cooled gas is now compressible by the flywheel momentum. This takes less energy, since when it is cooled its pressure drops.
