  1. Complying with CFR 21 Food Labeling Guidelines Using Food Labeling Software Today’s consumers are health conscious and want to make purchases of foods with informed decisions. In doing so, they try to avoid health risks that are often associated with various food items on store shelves. But, in order to ensure that consumers get accurate food information and make purchase of those foods that they want to consume, food regulatory authority mandates food labels must show approximate amount of energy, protein, vitamins, carbohydrates, sugar, fat, saturated fat, fatty acid, cholesterol, dietary fiber, etc., present in the food, a complete list of ingredients, details of allergens present (if any), name of the food, serving instructions, storage instructions, and all other information necessary for safe consumption. CFR 21 Guidelines Enforced: CFR stands for Code of Federal Regulations and Title 21. It has three divisions as follows: 1.Chapter I – Food and Drug Administration 2.Chapter II – Office of National Drug Control Policy 3.Chapter III – Drug Enforcement Administration The food and drugs market is governed by the CFR 21 in the United States. Title 21 in this law is a vital part of CFR that explains all the regulatory information with regards to food labeling in the United States. See 7 sub-parts under CFR 21: 1.Subpart A includes the general provisions 2.Subpart B includes the specific food labeling requirements 3.Subpart C includes the specific nutrition labeling requirements and guidelines 4.Subpart D includes the specific requirements for nutrient content claims 5.Subpart E includes the specific requirements for health claims

  2. 6.Subpart F contains the specific requirements for descriptive claims excluding the nutrient content claims and health claims 7.Subpart G states the exemptions from food labeling requirements Now the problem is that complying with these mandatory food labeling regulations manually is not only difficult but also tends to cause errors for food manufacturers, service providers and all others who need to create labels for their food products and beverages. They have to use a software instead to automate the process of calculating and creating food nutrient values of their food products, so they can stay compliant with those regulations. Don’t you also think an automated food labeling workflow would simplify and streamline your business process while making you confident about the compliance with CFR 21 food labeling requirements?
