  4. Purpose of Study • To determine the specific type of woody debris mayfly larvae prefer.

Materials & Methods • GA Adopt-A-Stream Monitoring Protocols • Physical • Chemical • Biological • Streambed • vegetative banks • woody debris • Was not adequate • Visual linear assessments • Small woody debris • Logs/meter • Data • Collected between January and March 2008 • Sampled 7 sites of different land usage.

  13. Conclusions • Mayfly larvae prefer coarse woody debris • Need more sites!!! • 1-2 logs/m range • Future research: • Is there an interaction between substrate type, mayflies & woody debris?
