Pop icon Katy Perry has landed in India for her show at the opening of the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and says she is honoured to be in the country.
Katy Perry, was undoubtedly the star attraction of the IPL opening celebrations. A dress that complemented her blue hair, she took care not to expose much. And for her performance she opted for a blingy choli, maang tika and bindis - compare it to one of her earlier performances in the next slide, to see what we are talking about.
The singer who is in the country for the IPL inaugural had on Tuesday tweeted: "After what felt like longest flight ever I'm finally here! Honoured to play Chennai! This is my first performance in India."
The 27-year-old, enthralled the audience with her hits like "Fireworks" and "California Gurls"
This is not the first time the singer is visiting India. She tied the knot with now estranged husband Russell Brand in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony in India in October 2010. (Text: IANS)
We hear Priyanka Chopra, who has been put up in the same hotel as Katy Perry, has requested an elaborate and informal meeting with the celebrity. However we do not have official conformation on this.
However, Katy Perry, it seems wants to meet Shilpa Shetty. Shilpa is one of those Indian celebs who became household name in UK after Big Brother. \nMid-Day qoutes a source to have said, "Katy has not met Shilpa ever and she has expressed a desire to catch up with her. She heard and read about Shilpa when she won 'Big Brother', but has never had a chance to catch up with her. She personally requested that she meets her and spends some time with her." And since Shilpa's expecting her first child, Katy apparently wants to personally congratulate her. "Shilpa may not be able to fly down for the ceremony, so they are trying to figure out if there is time to bring the musician to Mumbai so she can meet Shilpa."
Taking centre stage at the YMCA College of Physical Education Grounds, in Nandanam, Chennai, Perry had her groove back as she entertained the audience with her cheeky sense of humour and provocative dancing. The Californian girl called Australian cricketer Bollinger up and asked him to show her how to hold a cricket bat.The 30-year-old bowler looked surprised at first when Perry pulled his arms around her, but he quickly got into the swing of things and lapped up the opportunity.
